MCBH proudly introduces Malaysia's first-ever Juncao innovation – a new era in sustainability and growth!

The Juncao grass initiative represents a transformative approach to sustainable agricultural development, environmental conservation, and poverty alleviation. Originally developed by Professor Lin Zhanxi in China during the 1980s, this technology leverages the versatility of Juncao grass to address critical global challenges such as food security, climate change, and rural poverty. By replacing traditional, resource-intensive agricultural methods, Juncao technology reduces environmental degradation and provides accessible opportunities for economic growth.
Juncao, which translates to "mushroom grass," was initially developed as a sustainable substrate for cultivating edible and medicinal mushrooms. Its technology has since evolved to include broader applications such as livestock feed production, soil erosion control, and environmental restoration. With its adoption in over 100 countries, Juncao technology has become a global model for sustainable progress, aligning closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Benefits

Juncao technology revolutionizes mushroom farming by eliminating the need for wood-based substrates. The grass provides a sustainable and cost-effective alternative, significantly reducing deforestation and resource depletion. This innovation allows farmers to grow high-value mushrooms efficiently, contributing to food security and income generation.
Juncao grass serves as a high-protein feed for livestock and poultry, offering a sustainable and affordable alternative to conventional feed sources. Its cultivation can be integrated into existing agricultural systems, enhancing livestock productivity and supporting smallholder farmers.
The robust root system of Juncao grass stabilizes soil, preventing erosion and desertification. It has been successfully used to rehabilitate degraded lands, turning unproductive areas into fertile grounds suitable for agricultural use. This contributes to sustainable land management and mitigates the impacts of climate change.
Juncao grass is a fast-growing plant with a high capacity for carbon absorption. Its cultivation aids in reducing greenhouse gas concentrations, making it an effective tool for climate change mitigation efforts.
Juncao technology offers low-cost agricultural solutions that empower rural communities. By providing the means to cultivate mushrooms, produce animal feed, and rehabilitate land, the initiative creates new income streams and enhances economic resilience.
